As I dove into Billionaire Devil by Julie Capulet, I was bracing myself for the classic "hot playboy billionaire" trope. Been there, read that, right? But Colton Maddox, aka the King of Heartbreak, surprised me—and not in the way I expected. His over-the-top charm and relentless pursuit of Lila turned what could have been another predictable romance into a swoony, angsty, and downright addictive road trip of emotions. Let me break it down for you in true quirky, funky Ritu style!

From New York dreams to Vegas vows, this swoony billionaire romance will steal your heart and leave you begging for more!
From New York dreams to Vegas vows, this swoony billionaire romance will steal your heart and leave you begging for more!

What Had Me Swooning

From the get-go, I loved Lila. She's the girl-next-door who dreams big but feels the weight of reality pressing down hard. Her struggle to make it as a fashion designer in New York City? So relatable. Balancing two jobs while chasing your dreams is no joke, and her determination made me root for her all the way. Julie Capulet nailed it with Lila’s vulnerability and spark.

And then there’s Colton. Oh, Colton. The youngest Maddox brother might be a billionaire devil, but he’s also a teddy bear in disguise. Watching him go from carefree playboy to completely smitten? Chef’s kiss! His "lessons" to help Lila win over her high school crush were a mix of hilariously awkward and deeply heartfelt, and his slow realization that he’s teaching her to fall for him was the ultimate "Awww!" moment.

Their chemistry? SCORCHING. Think steamy road trips, luxury RVs, and Vegas escapades with just the right amount of spice. The banter was witty, the romance was intense, and the angst? Oh, the angst! It kept me glued to the pages until the very last one.

What Could Have Been Better

Okay, so here’s where my inner critic kicks in. While I adored Colton’s transformation, his initial over-the-top persistence could feel a little too much at times. It teetered on the edge of "dude, chill," before finally settling into swoony territory.

And let’s talk about the "other woman" (OW) and "other man" (OM) drama. While I appreciated that it was brief and didn’t derail the story, it felt like a predictable plot device that wasn’t entirely necessary. The chemistry between Lila and Colton was strong enough without the added drama.

Why I’m Excited About This Book

What makes Billionaire Devil shine is Julie Capulet’s ability to craft characters you care about and a storyline that keeps you hooked. Colton and Lila’s journey was packed with humor, heart, and heat—and don’t even get me started on the swoon-worthy grand gestures. The fairy-tale vibes were strong, and let’s be real, who doesn’t want a billionaire devil offering them the world?

This is the third book in the New York Billionaires series, and while it can stand alone, I highly recommend diving into the whole series. Each Maddox brother has his own charm, but Colton? He might just be my favorite (don’t tell his brothers).

Final Thoughts

Billionaire Devil is like a decadent dessert—rich, indulgent, and oh-so-satisfying. If you’re in the mood for a fast-paced romance with steamy moments, angsty twists, and a road trip that leads to love, this one’s for you.

Julie Capulet, you’ve done it again. I’m officially addicted to the Maddox brothers.
