When I say Lodged took my heart, flipped it upside down, and wrapped it in warm, gooey feelings, I mean it! This book is a swoon-worthy cocktail of forbidden love, heartfelt moments, and a sprinkle of amnesia drama that will leave you giggling, crying, and falling head over heels for Gio and Ruin.

So here’s the setup: Ruin is a bright, ambitious student dreaming of big-city success before returning to her small-town roots. Then enters Gio Bianchi—her handsome, awkwardly charming lab instructor—who derails all her plans with his golden-retriever energy and thoughtful gestures. They fall for each other, but tragedy strikes just as their love story blossoms. Ruin loses her memories of their life together, and Gio is left with one mission: make her fall in love with him all over again.

What I Loved

  • Gio: The Cinnamon Roll King: Gio is the dreamiest book boyfriend ever. Forget alpha males; this billionaire grad student is thoughtful, sweet, and completely devoted. From planning meaningful dates to being Ruin’s biggest cheerleader, he’s the kind of guy who’ll give you butterflies on every page. And can we talk about how refreshing it is to have an inexperienced MMC? Gio’s vulnerability made him feel so real.

  • Ruin: The Resilient QueenAfter losing her memories, Ruin doesn’t just crumble. She rebuilds herself with strength and determination. Watching her navigate the complexities of rediscovering herself—and Gio—was both heartbreaking and inspiring.

  • The Tropes: This book had some of my absolute favorites:

    • Professor x Student: The forbidden dynamic gave their romance an irresistible edge.

    • Amnesia: Who doesn’t love the drama of lost memories and second-chance love?

    • He Falls First: Gio was smitten from the start, and his unwavering love made me swoon hard.

    • Billionaire Romance: But make it grounded—Gio’s wealth doesn’t define their love; it enhances his thoughtfulness.

  • The Dates and Gifts: Gio’s dates were pure magic. Instead of flashy displays of wealth, he chose thoughtful gestures that spoke volumes about his love for Ruin. Each moment felt personal and heartfelt, making their connection even more special.

  • The Found Family Feels: Ruin’s bond with her loved ones and the way Gio integrated into her life brought an added layer of warmth to the story. It felt like one big hug.

While I adored the book, Alyssa (you’ll know when you get there) felt a bit one-note as a character. Her involvement added conflict, sure, but I wished for more depth in her role.

Final Thoughts

Lodged is like a warm mug of cocoa on a snowy day—comforting, sweet, and addictive. From Gio’s unconditional love to Ruin’s strength, this book is an emotional rollercoaster you won’t want to get off. It’s a palate cleanser for when you need something light yet brimming with heart.

If you love romances with quirky dates, golden retriever boyfriends, and the thrill of love lost and found, Lodged should be next on your TBR. Trust me, you’ll blush, giggle, and maybe even shed a tear or two. I’m officially obsessed and can’t wait to dive into more of the Kinsmen Billionaires series!
