Alright, romance lovers, Forever Starts Tonight by Karla Sorensen is a wild ride that’ll have your heart doing somersaults! If you’ve been rooting for Poppy and Jax since their first appearance in the Wilder Siblings series (like I have), get ready, because this book delivers on all those deliciously angsty vibes we’ve been craving!
We’ve got brother’s best friend (oooh, the scandal), mutual pining, a surprise pregnancy, and small-town romance. Basically, everything that makes for a perfectly swoon-worthy read, wrapped in Jax's grumpy shell and Poppy's sweet but determined nature.
So, let’s talk deets!
The chemistry between Poppy and Jax? It’s been brewing for years, and when they finally give in? Oh. My. Heart. That tension is top-tier! Poppy, fed up with Jax’s "I’m too old, and you’re my best friend’s sister" nonsense, shows up at his cabin during a storm, armed with wine and all her pent-up feelings. What could possibly go wrong? And of course, the surprise pregnancy adds a juicy twist that shakes things up!
Poppy’s character? LOVE her. She’s no damsel in distress. Instead of letting her unrequited love for Jax turn her into a puddle of tears, she’s all “I’m going to be fine, but let’s clear the air first.” Respect!
Jax? Ooof. Grumpy, emotionally-closed-off Jax had my heart doing flips. Watching him grapple with his feelings for Poppy while trying to keep her at arm’s length was oh-so-satisfying. His backstory is heart-wrenching, and you can’t help but root for him to finally let go of his trauma and give love a chance.
The pacing, though. While the first half of the book kept me glued, the ending felt a little rushed. After all that glorious pining and angst, I wanted more of their love story unfolding. It was like building up to this epic firework show, only to have a slightly underwhelming finale. I needed a bit more struggle for Jax to get to that emotional place where he can truly let go.
If you’re into emotionally-charged romances with a splash of drama, slow-burn feels, and a couple that’s been waiting (for what feels like forever) to find their Happily Ever After, Forever Starts Tonight is a solid pick. Plus, the Wilder family is always a treat to revisit, and Jax’s story ties beautifully into the series. Karla Sorensen knows how to tug at your heartstrings while delivering all the swoony moments, and this book is no exception!
Grab a cup of tea, get cozy, and dive into this emotional rollercoaster. And don’t forget the tissues – Jax’s backstory might hit you right in the feels.
Waiting for the next one.........
